What they're saying about Michael Williams...

by Will Price, Intern, Michael Williams for U.S. Senate Committee

Photo of Will PriceAs a college student and an intern on the Michael Williams for United States Senate campaign, I keep a busy schedule with my school class load and my campaign responsibilities. My most recent project on the campaign was a daunting one: compiling all of the comments made about Commissioner Williams on his Facebook page, blogs and the campaign website. I quickly learned this would not be a short project as the amount of information was much greater than we anticipated. A lot of people have a whole lot of great things to say about Commissioner Williams and his campaign for U.S. Senate.

But what immediately struck me was not just the volume of the comments, but the content. These are every-day Texans from every corner of the state, some even from outside the state, who are longing for fresh, energentic, common-sense leadership in Washington. And they are excited about sending Commissioner Williams to Washington to represent them in the U.S. Senate.

Sometimes intern projects can be mundane "busy work." But this is something altogether different. I wanted to share this with you as I think it is important for everyone to read what I have. Below are just a few of the highlights. Thanks for taking a few minutes to browse though some of these comments.

What Others Are Saying about Michael Williams and his campaign for the United States Senate

On WilliamsForTexas.com

“I am a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Right now when a major issue comes up for a vote we have to question how both of our senators will vote. With a true conservative like Commissioner Williams there is no question. We need a true conservative like him to represent Texas.”

- John Thompson, Spring, TX

“I have never participated in GOP political campaign before. But I feel motivated now more than ever. Michael Williams is the BEST choice to replace Sen. Hutchison in the US Senate. I hope Governor Perry appoints him, but regardless, my family and I will support Williams in his Senate bid.“

- Erick Ahlstedt, Midlothian, TX

“I have been acquainted with Michael for some years now and can think of no person whom I think would do a better job as U.S. Senator.”

- Earl Carter, Huntsville, TX

“As the owner of a local propane company, I have witnessed first hand Michaels support for family owned businesses. “

- Bill Collins, Wylie, TX

“My family and I saw you speak at the Weatherford Tea Party on July 4. We need you desperately in the US Senate! You speak our values and I’m telling everyone I know vote for you. God bless you and thank you for your service.”

- Herb Miller, Hudson Oaks, TX

“I am glad that Michael Williams is running for the office of Senator from the Great State of Texas. We need more conservative leaders like him in Washington. His views and his courage to stand up for those views is an inspiration and I will do whatever I can to help him get elected.”

- Sandy Packer, Horizon City, TX

“I am absolutely thrilled with Michael Williams candidacy and am willing to help in any and every way possible. It’s about time that the senatorial GOP found some inspiring leadership once again. Thank you for running!”

- Andrew Bunnell, Frisco, TX

“I have known the Commissioner for many years both as a professional in the energy business and as a citizen of Texas. He has always been an honest and transparent leader whose words turn into action. He is a quick study, will use his knowledge for Texas and has the ability to listen/communicate with people.”

- Jon Keeney, Taylor Lake Village, TX

“Michael Williams has proved himself in Texas political positions/offices already, and has the intelligence, common sense and logic, PLUS the great ability to articulate his point. I think he’s the best candidate to bring consensus in the U.S. Senate. Plus he displays a morality and integrity needed to be a statesman - Texas would do well to send him to Congress as our Representative.”

- Carol Hawkinson, Horseshoe Bay, TX

“Mr Williams, with you as our Senator, the conservative values of Texas will have a superb advocate in the senate. I’ve never put a political bumper sticker on my truck, but I will proudly display a Williams for U.S. Senate in your case. God Speed!”

- Roger A Kobus, Dallas, TX

“Michael Williams gets it. Most American’s do not want the government takeover of our liberties through government controlled cap and trade and health care.”

-Kathy Lewis, Kingsland, TX

“You represent the future of the Republican Party. We don’t need to sacrifice our values, but we do need to become more diverse. We need to attract more Blacks, Hispanics, young people and women. I am a new Republican after many years as a Democrat. Good Luck to your campaign to become our next Senator!”

- Mike Nirider, Pasadena, TX

On blogs and message boards…

“Michael Williams is an amazing candidate and is smart, charismatic and will be a great Senator. He is very firm in his beliefs. I cannot wait to start campaign season once again!”

- LL, Dec 16, 2008, Dallas Morning News

“I think the appointment of Williams would be huge for the GOP and the nation.”

- Mike DeVine May 15, 2009, RedState.com

“Mr. Williams is the clear leader for this nomination. I am supporting him. If the Governor were to elevate Michael to the US Senate, with the Obama storm faltering, Americans will be refreshed at the counter point that he brings to Mr. Obama’s radical ideas and identity politics. I hope that Governor Perry has the opportunity to nominate Michael. Michael Williams is so ready and brings so much to the table. Don’t forget he was a Senate confirmed Undersecretary of Education in the Ronald Reagan administration.”

- Charles V, August 25, 2009, Statesman.com

“I have written this before, so I won’t go into it too much, but I am a big, big fan of Michael Williams. In part it is because he is willing to actually stand up and work for things he believes in, even when there is no political payoff, or even if the result is a politically negative one for him personally. I started a charter school about a decade ago, and at our first fund-raising event, Michael Williams was our keynote speaker. He was not shy to tell us that it was disappointing that the only two black guys in the room were the speaker and the bartender. (We had several black families at the school, actually, but none were in attendance that night.) For this and many other reasons, I am not shy about supporting Michael Williams, and look forward to doing real work to get him elected.”

- Warren Norred, February 27, 2009, The Christian Politician Blog

“I have liked Michael since the first time I heard him speak. He speaks like a person and not a politician. He has been good for our state in Austin and I think it is time for him to be good for our state in DC (Lord knows they need someone who speaks and thinks like a person and not a politican).”

- JB, April 15, 2009, The Christian Politician Blog

“We need Michael on the national scene. He is a proven statewide winner, a respected (and real conservative) and he gets people out of their chairs, screaming with excitement. Our Party needs to generate the kind of interest and passion that Michael gets when he speaks.”

- Merrie Spaeth, December 12, 2008, draftmichaelwilliams.mojo4.com

“I heard Michael Williams speak when I was about twelve years old and considered myself a staunch democrat. To this day, I have never heard a better public speaker. He won my vote then (not that a twelve year old can vote) and he has my vote now and someday when he runs for president (one can hope…), he will have my vote then.”

- Maggie, Dec 16, 2008, Dallas Morning News

On Facebook…

“We need you in D.C. You have the character and integrity to help strengthen the conservative position and actions in the Senate. Help us block legislation that harms families and babies and reduces our population and workforce and, therefore, damages our economy and our culture! Bring in new legislation that favors the states and maintains our constitutional rights. We’re behind you!”

- Sonia Margarita Gangotena, June 22, 2009

“Mr. Commissioner, yesterday was the first time I heard you speak at the city hall Tea Party and I have to tell you - you stole the show! I am a HUGE fan of yours now and I wanted to let you know that I will help support your goals anyway I can! We need people like you with your passion and energy and fire in office. What a breath of fresh air you are!!! God bless you and God bless your family.”

- Karin Patton Williams, April 16, 2009

“I heard you speak at the RPT Convention in 2008. I was walking out of the convention hall to go look at vendors, you stopped me in my tracks and I had to listen. I knew then that you were destined for a bigger stage. You are exactly what the US Senate needs. Washington needs you. Already signed up as a supporter, tell us what we need to be doing, already telling everyone I know about your candidacy. EXCITED doesn’t begin to describe my emotions”

- Shelly Watson Roszak, June 9, 2009

“This senate seat is important, and I think you are the right person to fill that seat and the requirements that come with it. We need to recharge the Republican Party and that is NOT by moving to the middle but keeping the principles and political views that defines conservatism and on which this country was founded upon. Go Michael Williams!!”

- Matt Martin, May 19, 2009

“I look forward to helping Michael Williams win in Harris County!”

- David Higgins, June 9, 2009

“I firmly believe in your campaign for the U.S. Senate. It could be the start of bigger and better things to come. You are a breath of fresh air in a political world that is old and stale. Good Luck in 2010 and God Bless You!”

- Mike Nirider, June 22, 2009

“Michael…I believe you will be a great asset to Texas and to Washington. It is always a pleasure to meet you at the many conventions I go to for TFRW and the RPT. Hope to see you again soon. I will support you any way that I can. “

- Connie Cashen, June 22, 2009

“Coming from an agnostic, non-partisan…your ideas strike a chord that is worth listening to. Stay true to conservative ideals and I’ll keep listening. That old constitution is a pretty good document.”

- Randy Sparks, June 18, 2009

“Mr. Williams, I just wanted to thank you for being involved with the youth of the state. Doing something as little as joining Facebook and adding me as a friend has inspired me to stay more up-to-date with Texas politics. I appreciate you making information about your campaign readily available (Through your Website) so that young conservatives, like myself, get a transparent view of what exactly you stand for.”

- John Burleson, March 13, 2009

“Congrats, Michael… ALL of the law enforcement people I associate with are in your corner!!!!!”

- B.A. Mitchell, April 28, 2009

“Com Williams you were awesome. Thank you so much for showing your support at the homeschool rally and also speaking to the homeschool TeenPact Leadership group today. My hubby was impressed because there was no hesitation on your part when one of the students asked you "what is the role of govt". Keep up the good work.”

- Nita Davidson, April 7, 2009
